Volunteer Role: Writing Coach (Arabic and Spanish speakers needed)
Overview: Third-graders are using the New York Times bestselling book Dragons Love Tacos by Adam Rubinto study the connection between food and culture, with a visit to a Mexican restaurant to round out their research. They’ll create their own dragons, then write about the creature’s preferences and background as a reflection of themselves. Volunteers will assist students in polishing their writing for a final draft, which will be published with their artwork in their own class book. Program Coordinator: Myra Hernandez
No experience or training is necessary to work with students as a writing, research or art coach or field trip supervisor.
